Background
The Establishment Center “Ecological Reconstruction” (
ECER
) conducts applied scientific research in the field of ecology, environmental protection and biodiversity. It is based in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
Since 1998 ECER was responsible for:
providing the scientific groundwork for setting up the Transiliensis State Nature National Park. 1998.
assessing the influence of Nuclear Tests and Oil-Gas industry actions on the Ecological situation and population health of the West Kazakhstan Region. 2000-2002.
elaborating methodical instructions for the Ecological Audit of Acting Industrial Enterprises. 2001.
ECER specialists also took part in:
the investigation of the Bryophytes of Central Asia to Establish Ecological Parameters and Assess Biodiversity Based on Field Expeditions, Herbarium Studies, and Literature Surveys. 1998. US.Civilian Research and Development Foundation (CRDF).
Regional Cooperation For Sustainable Mountain Development in Central Asia. 2000. Project Asian Development Bank.
Regional Environmental Action Plan for Central Asia. 2001. Project Asian Development Bank.
National Strategy and Action Plan for Sustainable Mountain Area Development of Kazakhstan. 2001. Project RETA #5878-REG. The center is also already participating in an INTAS Project on the “Development of methods to rehabilitate degraded riparian forest ecosystems in the Aral Sea
Basin’s river plains and deltas”. The project now is applied for will ideally complement the work started.
